Be 2 Weeks Ready Program

Oregon Department of Emergency Management:
Be 2 Weeks Ready Program

Check out Oregon’s Be 2 Weeks Ready program, designed to help individuals and families start from where they’re at and build self-reliance and community preparedness step-by-step.

The Be 2 Weeks Ready program is delivered via the tool kit: eight units on preparedness you can work through alone, or with a group led by a local program coordinator. Unit highlights include food planning, water planning, and emergency management 101.

This program is available for download from OEM’s website in five languages: English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and Vietnamese. The toolkit will also be released in ASL soon.

For information on how to find a program near you, email co********************@oe*.gov

September Field Training 8/14

2024 Sep 14: Washco ARES members will travel to Bald Peak and separate into numerous VARA FM field stations. Then we will set up a net control station to help us negotiate by simplex radio to trade WLE messages by WLE Peer-to-peer (P2P). Bring a complete FM Winlink station or bring yourself. When P2P is done, we may check to see if we can reach nearby RMS Gateways.

I have attached my non-peer reviewed information sheet complete with blank log sheet for your convenience. You may print it before our meeting in case you have questions. It will likely change before September 14.

2024 Sep 14 v3c Version 3c has longer grid square (6 character) and page numbering.

Basically: 1. show up, 2. Send messages, 3. Have fun, 4. Tell us how you did.

Lithium Battery Fire Started by Dog

The Tulsa Fire Department shares a video showing how a dog started a house fire by chewing on a lithium-ion battery.
