Winter Field Day Preparation

We had eleven in attendance which included one new applicant, and one interested person. We met at a location that gives us a modern classroom and a 40×40 concrete space (40×65 if we add in the brush and saplings).

The recent fires in Calif. inspired one of our members to give us a view of how we might be helping in our own community and what we might do to prepare ourselves and our team. He will work on a comms exercise you will likely see soon.

We shared our day shift 12-hour kit contents. Some highlights and ideas:

    • Remember the water bottle.
    • use micro cloths as padding to wrap around equipment. Optionally you can use hook and loop ties to hold them together
    • compacter trash bags are extra heavy – 2.0 mil versus 0.5 – 1.0 of other bags at about 45 cents each.
    • equipment could be packed right next to required accessories such as batteries and charging cord.
    • do you have a long-lasting workspace light so you can keep notes?
    • a gardener’s pad will make sitting on hard chairs more tolerable

If I missed any ideas, just email.
