Welcome to a new (to us) Winlink practice net series. We do a little each week to build and hone our skills and allow the Winlink program to update.
Basically I will be re-branding (with permission) a successful program run for two years in Lake Oswego under Andrew Watson, N1ACW and an entire Winlink Training Team. You may recognize his call sign from his RMS station N1ACW-10.
Their class has recently been re-started and rolled out to Clackamas County members.
Our class (re-branded for us) is starting this week (11/6).
This way our program will use great content that is already written (after minor edits). It also allows for other Washington County ARES Winlink instructors to step in. They would just re-issue content a week or so after CARES releases their content.
A paraphrase from the Lake Oswego class: “… this net uses a cyclical sawtooth training model – very much like athletic periodization. After a few weeks of exercising an ever-increasing range of Winlink system skills, this week we’re taking a breather and dropping back to basics. Note that there is a lot of directions below. These are to ensure Winlink neophytes can be successful. This week’s task will take a moderately experienced operator no more than five minutes to complete.”
